For our client, a leading Tier-1 mining contractor based in West Africa, we are seeking a highly skilled Equipment and Maintenance Superintendent. This pivotal role is essential for leading the maintenance department and ensuring the optimal performance of a large mobile mining fleet.
About the Role:
The Equipment and Maintenance Manager will take full responsibility for the efficient management of all heavy mining equipment and workshop activities. This is a critical, hands-on leadership role focused on implementing robust maintenance strategies, maximising asset availability, and driving cost control. The position is site-based on a fly-in, fly-out roster and offers a competitive net expatriate salary package.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assume full operational command of the site workshop, driving world-class standards in safety, efficiency, and organisation.
- Implement and oversee robust maintenance strategies, including planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules, to maximise fleet availability and reliability.
- Provide expert technical guidance to the maintenance teams, leading troubleshooting efforts to resolve complex equipment failures and minimise downtime.
- Manage the maintenance budget, controlling spare parts consumption and ensuring meticulous documentation for all workshop activities.
- Effectively plan and manage all maintenance personnel, fostering a culture of accuracy, reliability, and proactivity.
- Ensure all maintenance operations strictly adhere to company and regulatory health, safety, and environmental standards.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree (BSc/BEng) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Expert knowledge of SAP.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the management of heavy mining equipment, including direct workshop leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance planning software and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools for reporting and cost analysis.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a proactive, results-oriented approach to solving operational challenges.
- Fluency in English is essential.
- Professional fluency in French or Portuguese is also considered a significant advantage.
