Marine Nautical Superintendent

For our leading client based in Southern Africa we are seeking a skilled and experienced Marine Nautical Superintendent. This role is crucial for managing and overseeing all marine operations, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental policies, and maintaining high standards in navigation, mooring, towing, SOLAS, and GMDSS equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental requirements across marine operations.
- Ensure vessels comply with maritime legislation and safety management systems.
- Conduct internal audits and inspections, maintaining up-to-date statutory and class certificates.
- Supervise maintenance activities and manage marine operational documentation.
- Lead and mentor the marine team, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong knowledge of maritime regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Proficiency in maritime operations, vessel handling, and bulk loading operations.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Portuguese is an advantage.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Maritime Navigation, or Port Management.
- Chief Officer (Unlimited) certificate of competence; Master (Unlimited) certificate desirable.
- Minimum of 2-3 years offshore experience and at least 3 years in a Nautical Superintendent role.
- Experience in port management and bulk vessel loading.
