Description:

  • Management of UG design for the Company’s strategic projects

  • Search and development of advanced solutions to improve execution of mining projects

Rehabilitation Scientist

For our client, a leading mining operator based in Africa, we are searching for a Rehabilitation Scientist. The position will be offered on a 2 year FTC working a FIFO schedule.

This is a specialised technical role, intended to support continued improvements in scientific rigor and workforce efficiency within the rehabilitation department.  The successful candidate will play an integral role in design and implementation of scientific field trials and  studies, including monitoring of rehabilitated and managed natural lands within the mining concession.

Occupational Health and Safety:

  • Understand and comply with health & safety policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Risk assess equipment, systems, procedures and tasks within the responsibility areas.
  • Ensure appropriate use of PPE and safety equipment at each worksite.
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents in accordance with company policy.
  • Assist with incident investigations as requested.
  • Support and participate in safety initiatives, talks and inspections.
  • Follow & complete Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) & Safe Work Instructions (SWI).

GIS and GPS Support:

  • Assume the custodianship role for rehabilitation and closure datasets.
  • Download and map weekly GPS data to track work progress.
  • Create and manage GIS datasets ensuring integrity of the information is maintained.
  • Research and acquire digital data for inclusion in the IGIS database.
  • Provide a high quality cartographic service, including preparation of digital maps, hardcopy prints and presentation graphics (using ESRI ArcMap)
  • Train rehabilitation workers in proper use of GPS to collect field data.
  • Train technical staff to use GIS data viewers.

Study Design and Oversight:

  • Oversee design and implementation of scientific field trials aimed at advancing and improving rehabilitation.
  • Collaborate with external academic partners and/or consultants as needed.
  • Mentor existing staff to improve skills in scientific approach, data management, and data analysis.
  • Develop and implement monitoring and adaptive management programs for rehabilitated and undisturbed natural lands within the mining concession.

Candidate:

  • Desired a Master’s degree or demonstrated advanced technical expertise in geochemistry, soil science, and/or water resources.

  • 7-15 years’ experience applying scientific methods in an industrial / operational setting.

Processing Control Room Technician

For our client, a leading mining organisation, we are searching for a Processing Control Room Technician for a major site in the DRC. The role will be on a roster basis (TBC), and will be based in one of Sub-Saharan Africa’s best camps.

Description:

  • Develop and sustain a world-class team within crushing, milling, flotations and hydro-mining operations area as well as backfilling and all the surround activities related to operations of the concentrator.
  • Ensure production budgets are achieved or exceeded within milling, flotation, as well as backfilling.
  • Report all accidents and incidents & fix all safety deviations.
  • Maintain and promote housekeeping standards to a level that is in line with the manager’s requirements and expectations.
  • Liaise and work together with other departments within the company in a respectful and professional manner as required.
  • Continuous improvement and implementation of practical solutions to run and optimize crushing, milling, flotation, backfill circuits parameters
  • Management of stockpiles, mills throughput, flotation parameters throughout shift.

Description:

  • Be proactive and enforce all safety policies and procedures
  • Maintains and promotes housekeeping to a level that is in line with company standards
  • Inspect the operating mining areas prior to each shift with the supervisors to ensure the mining plans for the day are understood and the operating areas are compliant with all safety policies and procedures
  • Ensures crew supervisors  are holding an effective and timely pre-shift meeting that will lead to an efficient start to their shift
  • Ensures that variances in expected production rates or planned areas are remediated and corrective actions are reviewed with crew supervisors to prevent repetitive mistakes
  • Observe the performance of operators, leading hands and supervisors  to identify talent within the team and opportunities for improvement
  • Plan for a variety of mine operations tasks, such as a large shovel move, to prevent production losses

Responsibilities:

The incumbent participates directly in the establishment of the various phases of the budget, in consultation with the Head of Center, the head of the geology department, Mine Director and the various other officials of the Center.
• It plays a leading role in the definition of exploitation sequences, mining studies as part of the 5-year plan, the mining process and the mining map, which implies studies and proposals, particularly in terms of investment.   • Reporting of all incidents & accidents, Conduct risk assessments, write incident & accident reports.

Senior Mine Planning Engineer

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead a team of individuals and manage design work required for the development and production of the underground. Ultimately accountable for the timely delivery of designs and their accuracy.
  • Preparing short, medium and long-term schedules that aim to meet or exceed site objectives and support the long-term mining plan. Identify contingency plans to overcome shortfalls in production and development. Ensure plan is appropriate for equipment and manpower levels, and that it does not exceed the ventilation or ore movement system constraints.
  • Coordinate with mine operations on a daily basis to ensure the plan is being adhered to and to minimize disruptions. Complete regular variance reports and stope status reports.

  • Prepare life of mine reserves via Surpac and generate life of mine plans using MineSched on annual basis.
  • Complete reserves block model-mining analysis.
  • Complete reports as required.
  • Participate in completing the mine’s monthly reconciliation report.
  • Lead the cutoff grade annual calculation.
  • Prepare and create NI 43-101, JORC and technical reports as a Qualified Person (QP) / Competent Person (CP).

Maintenance Foreman – Mechanical and E&I

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Investigate, diagnose problems and breakdowns to determine resource requirements and order spares according to company procedures
  • Performs inspections in accordance with the safety regulations/ legislations and analyse breakdowns of previous shift at the beginning of each shift by analysing relevant communication
  • Over-inspect sub ordinates in their daily activities to ensure maintenance according to organisational standards and the maintenance requirements
  • Co-ordinate and monitor equipment availability to ensure adherence to production parameters
  • Continuously analyse equipment efficiencies to recommend or implementing improvements and changes to maximise operations
  • Communicate equipment information and changes to relevant stakeholder to minimise production delays
  • Ensure that all installations and equipment are safe and in good working order after task completion
  • Attend to breakdowns immediately to minimize down time
  • Determine work schedules in conjunction with other Engineering / Process teams to ensure availability and optimise utilisation of equipment to the relevant section and consult with production teams on maintenance activities that effects production
  • Supports the achievement of production and maintenance performance levels
  • Perform administrative duties to ensure record accuracy and availability, budget compliance and spares availability

Job description:

  • You will be responsible for managing the maintenance planning processes within the Port, Railway Workshop and support the Mine planning,
  • Ensuring the provision of adequate asset management systems and plans to support Operations and Maintenance teams in optimizing asset reliability,
  • Improving maintenance effectiveness, minimizing maintenance costs and ensuring compliance to health, safety and environmental standards.

Candidate:

  • You will have strong knowledge in Port material handling equipment’s (as Wagon Tipplers, Stackers, Reclaimers, Shiploaders, Belt Conveyor, Substations, etc.),
  • Solid knowledge in Rolling stock material for Railway and knowledge in Mine activities

  • Réalise / supervise les relevés topographiques sur le terrain aussi bien en implantation qu’en lever pour tous les travaux de terrain (géologie, mine…) nécessitant un positionnement 3D
  • Conçoit les designs miniers de détail nécessaires
  • A la planification des travaux de la carrière préparatoire de l’ouverture du gisement incluant accès, gradins, gestion des eaux, verses et autres
  • A la séquence minière d’ouverture du gisement (verse(s) initiale(s), accès, gradins, le système de gestion de l’eau…)
  • Aux séquences minières pour la planification moyen-long terme du gisement
  • Participe à l’élaboration de projets d’aménagement (ouvrages, pistes, route, verses…)
  • En charge de l’implantation, la mise sous plan, de l’archivage, de la sauvegarde des données topographiques inhérentes à la reconnaissance géologique, l’exploitation minière (sondages, état des fronts, réhabilitation, décapage, infrastructures, stocks…)
  • Supervise l’activité de l’équipe topographique

Profile:

  • Avoir une première expérience comme projeteur minier ou bien comme géomètre dans une exploitation minière
  • Maitriser l’utilisation de matériel de forte technicité (GPS, Stations totales, niveaux numériques…)
  • Maitriser la topographie, l’utilisation de progiciels topographiques
  • Savoir diagnostiquer correctement et réagir de façon pertinente aux pannes des différents matériels topos
  • Maitriser le dessin en 3 dimensions, le dessin de fosses, de verses, de pistes sous Surpac (de préférence) ou un équivalent : compétence indispensable
